The Mass of Christian Burial for Agnes Marie (Pospisil) Petru, age 83, will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, with Rev. Larry Kowalski officiating.  Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Hennessey.  Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

            She was born to Pete Frank and Mary (Fuksa) Pospisil on May 25, 1924 west of  Bison, and died Sunday, January 6, 2008, at Highland Park Nursing Home in Enid.

            Agnes grew up in the Bison Community and attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School.  On March 7, 1944, she married Stanley Anton Petru in Bison.  They farmed in Hennessey, and she worked at various jobs including Hennessey Seed, Wilmes, Dillards and Newmans.  After Stan’s death, she moved to Enid.  She enjoyed being a  foster grandparent for Enid Public Schools.  She is a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.

            She is survived by her son Barry L. Petru and wife Crystal of Goddard, KS; her daughter Helen L. Hampton and husband Irvin of Enid; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother Frank M. Pospisil and wife Mildred of Hennessey; and two sisters, Georgianna Gungoll and husband Tommy of Enid, and Alice Merritt and husband Charles of Ft. Worth, TX,

            Agnes was preceded in death by her husband Stanley in 1981, and twin sister Annette who died in infancy.
