Talmadge “Lee” Armour of
Enid went home to be
with the Lord on
Thursday, March 11, 2010
following a long
courageous battle with
cancer. He was at home
with his family when he
passed away.
Lee was born on August
20, 1933 in Lula, GA to
the late Thomas Dewey
and Annie Armour. He
attended grade school in
Lula and graduated from
Lula High School in
1952. Lee enlisted in
the United States Air
Force in August of 1952
where he served twenty
years. During his time
in the Air Force Lee
served in many locations
around the United States
and overseas. His
overseas assignments
included Puerto Rico,
Korea, Turkey, Spain,
Thailand and South
Africa. While Lee was
stationed at
Clinton-Sherman Air
Force Base, he met
Sharon Lee Jenkins and
they were married in Elk
City, OK, on December 8,
1962.
Upon retirement from the
Air Force, Lee and
family moved to Enid,
OK, where he went to
work at Vance Air Force
Base for
Northrop-Grumman. Lee
continued to support the
Air Force by working the
next twenty-two years at
Vance.
Lee was active in youth
sports in Enid coaching
for seven years. He
coached football,
basketball and
baseball. Over the
seven years Lee coached,
he helped hundreds of
boys grow up and become
successful men. One of
his former players said
“Lee was more than just
your coach; whether he
knew it or not he was a
dad to us all especially
to those of us without a
dad.” Lee would say
watching those boys grow
up and become successful
was one of his greatest
accomplishments.
Lee was a member of the
North Garland Church of
Christ where he enjoyed
working at the church in
the food bank. Lee
enjoyed spending time
with wife and family,
watching his
grandchildren’s
activities and working
in the garden.
Lee is survived by his
wife Sharon; two sons,
Danny of Oklahoma City
and Michael and wife
Cheila; two
grandchildren; Joshua
and Tristan; two step
grandchildren, Ashley
and Nicole Dirks, all of
Enid; one sister, Elaine
Qualls and husband
James; three brothers,
Bob Armour and wife
Helen, Alex Armour, and
Eugene and wife
Francis.
In additions to his
parents, he was preceded
in death by one brother,
Thomas.
Memorial contributions
may be through the
funeral home to the
North Garland Church of
Christ Food Pantry.
