Arthur Huenergardt, age
95, will be at 10:00
A.M. Monday, August 18, 2008,
at Anderson-Burris
Funeral Home Chapel,
with Pastor Steve Driskill
officiating. Burial
will be in
Memorial
Park
Cemetery, with military honors. Arrangements are by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home.
He was born to George
and Mary (Dies)
Huenergardt on July 25,
1913 in
Hillsboro,
Kansas, and died Friday, August 15, 2008,
at the
Clinton
Veterans
Center.
Art’s family moved to
Oklahoma
in 1919. In 1937, he
moved to
California,
and enlisted in the
United States Army. He
did his Basic Training
and then served his
early years with the
Army in
Hawaii.
During World War II, Art
served in
North Africa,
France and
Germany. During the Korean War, he served in the Army of Occupation in
Germany. Art retired from the Army in April 1960. He then
worked in the appliance
repair business and auto
repair business.
Art married Helen
Thompson in 1940 in
Reno,
Nevada.
She preceded him in
death in January 1985.
Art was a member of
Davis Park Christian
Church, serving as
deacon and elder. Art
married Marie Autry in
1986, and they made
their home in
Enid
until March, 2003, when
they moved to Fairview
Fellowship Home. They
were members of the
Canton
Christian Church. Marie
preceded him in death in
2007. Art spent the
last year of his life as
a resident of Clinton
Veterans Home,
benefiting from their
kindness and care. He
enjoyed being at home
with those who had
faithfully served this
nation. Art was a
member of American
Legion and Retired
Military Officers
Association.
He was preceded in death
by his parents, his two
wives, step-son David
Autry, two sisters, two
brothers, one
half-brother, and one
half-sister.
Art is survived by two
half-sisters, Betty Berg
of Eugene, OR and Nadine
Ware of Norman; two
half-brothers Harold of
Amarillo, TX and Roy Lee
of Eugene, OR; step-son
Tom Autry of Watonga;
four step-grandchildren;
three step
greatgrandchildren; and
numerous nieces, nephews
and cousins.
