Dan O’Daniel officiating.  Burial will be the Waukomis Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.  Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

She was born to Ira and Rose (Gyer) Johnson on April 28, 1920 in Graham, Texas, and died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at her home in Enid.

Dorotha’s family moved to the Enid area when she was a child.  She graduated from Waukomis High School, where she was in choir and played basketball.  On July 22, 1939, she married Elwin Lee Baker in Waukomis, and they made their home on a farm north of Covington.  They lived there for five years before moving to a farm east of Garber.  They raised cattle and operated a dairy for many years and also raised quarter horses.  Dorotha was a homemaker and farmer’s wife.  In 1979, they moved into Enid, but continued to farm.  She wrote poetry, and loved attending her grandchildren’s activities, horse shows, and ballgames.  The Bakers enjoyed traveling all over the country to attend horse races.  Dorotha was a member of Cowboy Church.

She is survived by her husband Elwin of the home; two daughters, Kondra Wedel and husband Delmar of Garber, and Sheryl Powell and husband Marvin of Covington; eight grandchildren, Rex and Donnesia Wedel and their children Natawsha, Tyler, Chase and Mason; Jana Kay Snow and her children, Braden, Dalton, Dakota and Dillin; Reese and Christina Wedel, and their children, Nicole, Devin and Amanda, Rance Wedel and his children Darryan, Dakima and Dobbs, Dawn and Rodney Eggers and their children, Jordan and Carson, Joelle Powell, and Jodie Baker and her daughter Taylor Licklighter, and Jon Baker; and three great-great grandchildren, Callie, Aara and Miley.

Dorotha was preceded in death by one son Bill, grandson Lance Powell, and brother Don Johnson.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Ross Hospice.
