            A funeral service for Billy Joe Babb, age 71, of Fairmont, will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 7, 2007, at the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Timothy Dorsch officiating.  Burial will be in the Bethany Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.  Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home.  The casket will be open until service time.

            He was born to Gene Garfield and Ruth Naomi (Venable) Babb on September 25, 1935, in Holdenville, OK, and died Tuesday,  April 3, 2007, in Oklahoma City.

            He grew up in Holdenville and attended schools there.  On February 6, 1956, he married Mary Browning in Ada.  They made their home in Wewoka.  He drove trucks for Wrangler, Coca-Cola, and Jackson Cookie Company.  They moved to Enid in 1974, and then to Fairmont in 1996.  He enjoyed mowing, fishing, and bowling.  He was owner/operator of his own truck, most recently leased to TMC.  He was a truck driver for over fifty years.

            He is survived by his wife Mary of the home; their beloved dog “Baby Girl Babb”; two children, Billie Burwell and husband Michael of Fairmont, and Ronda Burgess of Burneyville, OK; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Robert “Bob” Babb of McAlester, Wayne Babb of Wewoka, Raymond Babb, Jack Babb, and Johnny Babb, all of Holdenville; three sisters, Marie Grimes and Fern Shockley, both of Holdenville, and Jane Meyers of Oklahoma City.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, and half sister, Naomi Green.

            Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Fairmont Fire Department.
