            A Funeral service for Blanche E. Messenger, age 96, will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Rose Marie Leroy officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

            She was born to James and Rosetta (Cook) Monahan on December 17, 1910 in Fairview, and died Friday, March 2, 2007 in Enid.

            Blanche grew up in Fairview, graduating from Fairview High School. She later graduated from Wheaton Bible College. On April 23, 1936, she married Cecil Messenger in Fairview. She was a school teacher and a missionary to Japan form 1955 to 1973, and was active in the Laura Mauk Missionary Circle. Blanche was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Crusaders Sunday School Class.

            She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Judy and John Butler, Mary and Darrel Gosney, Arveda and Mike Aylward, Sheri Noble, Jerald Scott and Dee Monahan, Kenneth and Juanita Monahan, Jim and Mary Ann Monahan, Rosemary and Earl Cinnamon, Patricia and Mike Holden, Kathy Monahan, Barbara and Mac Joss, Byron and Sonny Blair, Roy and Leeanna Messenger, and Gale and Ginny Messenger; great nieces and nephews, Loren and Connie Johnson, Gary and Carol Johnson, Karen and Wally Reynolds, Janice and Lindle Gamblin; other great nieces and nephews and other relatives.

            Blanche was preceded in death by her husband Cecil; five brothers, Doyle, Patrick, Martin, James and Jerald Monahan; and four sisters, Donna, Myrtle, Ivol, and Mary Ellen; brother-in-law and sister-in -law, Alfred and Nina Messenger.

            Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Bethany United Methodist Church.
