A funeral
service for Cecile L.
Avery of Covington, will
be Monday February 18,
2008 at 2:00 p.m. at St.
John’s Lutheran Church
in Covington, with Rev.
Jerry Brown
officiating. Burial
will follow in the
Covington Cemetery.
Arrangements are by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home.
Cecile was
born on August 8, 1910
in Elizabeth, Arkansas
to Elias and Sophia (Nimmo)
McGlasson and died on
February 14, 2008 in
Enid.
Cecile
married Mack Avery on
April 27, 1928 in Beggs,
Oklahoma, and there made
their home in Covington,
where she was a
homemaker. Cecile was
known for her wonderful
family dinners, she
enjoyed quilting, and
her children remember
her whistling as she
worked.
Cecile is
survived by her children
Jean Dwyre, Bertha and
husband Aaron Staerkel
all of Enid, Bob and
wife Ruth Avery of
Covington, Connie and
wife Mary Ann Avery, Don
Avery all of Ponca City,
and Lorene and husband
Chuck Smith of Perry;
step-children Myrtle
Covington of
Holdenville, and Edna
Combs of Fresno,
California; a
daughter-in-law Lou
Avery of Enid; 22
grandchildren; 22
great-grandchildren; a
brother Jack McGlasson
of Eufaula; two sisters
Sylvia Doyle of Midwest
City, and Betty Root of
Davis.
She was
preceded in death by her
husband Mack; a son
Carl, a daughter Norma
McMartin; two step-sons,
Earl and Noah Avery.
Memorials

funeral home to St.
John’s Lutheran Church.
