The funeral for Charlene
Grace Pankonin, age 57,
will be at 10:00 A.M.
Wednesday, September 10,
2008, at the
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home Chapel, with Rev.
John McLemore
officiating. The family
will greet friends
beginning at 9:00 A.M.
at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Fort
Snelling National
Cemetery in St. Paul,
Minnesota.
Charlene was
born to Glendore Grace
Elfstrum on July 2,
1951, in St. Paul,
Minnesota, and died
Sunday, September 7,
2008, at her home in
Enid.
She grew up in
South St. Paul and
graduated from South St.
Paul High School. On
May 1, 1971, she married
George Pankonin in Inver
Grove Heights,
Minnesota. While George
served in the U.S. Air
Force, they resided in
Homestead, FL;
Plattsmouth, NE; Duluth,
MN; Fairborn, OH;
Hampton, VA; Ramstein
Air Base, Germany; Enid,
OK; and Rantoul, IL.
Charlene was a homemaker
wherever they lived.
They moved to Enid in
June 1993 when George
retired from the U.S.
Air Force. Charlene
enjoyed morning walks at
the mall with her
friends.
She is
survived by her husband
George and one son,
Joseph Andrew Pankonin,
both of the home;
father-in-law and
mother-in-law, George
and Mary Pankonin, of
Inver Grove Heights,
Minnesota; and
one uncle, Harland Elfstrum of Enid.
Charlene was
preceded in death by her
mother, Glendore Grace
Elfstrum, and
grandparents, Francis
Joseph and Grace Emma
Tessmer Elfstrum.
