A funeral service for
Charles Thomas Malicote,
age 87, will be at 2:00
P.M. Wednesday, April 4,
2007, at New Hope United
Methodist Church, 614 N.
Garland, with Rev. David
Conrad officiating.
Burial will be in
Memorial Park Cemetery,
with arrangements by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home.
He was born to Charles
Obidiah and Bertha
Beatrice (Perry)
Malicote on January 1,
1920, on the family farm
in Enid, and died
Sunday, April 1, 2007,
at Golden Oaks Nursing
Center in Enid.
Charlie lived in Enid
all his life except for
a few years in Indiana
as a child. He
attended Freehome School
and Enid High School,
before entering the U.S.
Army on February 12,
1942. He was a
Technician Fifth Grade
with the 458th
Amphibious Truck Company
when he received his
Honorable Discharge on
October 23, 1945.
Charlie was in the third
wave going onto Easy Red
Section of Omaha Beach
during the Normandy
landing June 6, 1944.
He also fought in the
Battle of the Bulge.
On November 9, 1940,
Charlie and Anna
Marjorie Smith were
married and two
daughters were born,
Marcia Ann and Shelley
Dawn. He worked
for 37 years as Area
Maintenance Technician
for the U.S. Postal
Service, retiring
January 1, 1980,
He then held several
jobs including owning
his own air-conditioning
business. After the
death of Marjorie,
Charlie and Barbara
Kinzy were married on
September 27, 1997.
He was a member of New
Hope United Methodist
Church, serving as a
Sunday School teacher,
Head Deacon, member of
the Building, Finance
and Prison Ministry
Committees, as well as
being part of the
Administrative Council.
He was a member of the
Postal Union,a life
member of the VFW, a
member of Masonic Lodge
501, and a 32nd degree
Mason. He was a
volunteer at St. Mary’s
Hospital driving the
Saint Mobile at least
once a week and
Wheatheart Nutrition, as
well as being a Campfire
leader and homeroom
parent.
Charlie is survived by
his wife, Barbara, of
the home; two daughters,
Marcia LaMunyon and
husband Larry, of Enid,
Shelley Stutchman and
husband Horace of Enid;
step-daughter
Cheryl Kinzy of Tulsa;
five grandchildren,
Larry LaMunyon, Jr. of
Texas, Don LaMunyon of
Enid, Charlie LaMunyon
of Okmulgee, Ryan
Stutchman of Arlington,
TX, and Ginger Selby of
Enid; nine
great-grandchildren; and
three great-great
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by his first wife,
Marjorie.
In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be made
through the funeral home
to New Hope UMC,
Apportionment Fund or
Hospice Circle of Love.
