         The funeral service for Everett Joe Choat, age 82, will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Pastor Christopher Hall officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

        He was born to James E. and Angie (Phipps) Choat on October 29, 1927, in Lacy, Oklahoma, and died Friday, December 25, 2009, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid.

        Everett attended Lacy schools and served two years in the United States Navy.  He married Erma June Schroeder on August 1, 1948.  In 1962 as a plumbing contractor, he started Choat Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1989.  After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time at his acreage where he loved working outdoors.

       He was a long-time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where he served on the Evangelism Board and as a Trustee.

       Surviving are his wife Erma June of the home; two sons, Brad Choat and his wife Gloria, and Steve Choat and his wife Jeanne, all of Enid; five grandchildren, Travis Choat and his wife Tamara of Greenfield, Indiana, Eric Choat and his wife Mandy of Drummond, Maggie Missal and her husband Jason of Boulder, Colorado, Jamie Hager and her husband Eli of Enid, and Shellie Floyd and her husband Sammy of Enid; and two great-grandchildren, Talyn Hager and Callie Floyd.

      Everett was preceded in death by two brothers Albert and Whitie Choat.

      Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Redeemer Lutheran Church Building Fund or to the charity of your choice.
