Visitation with family and viewing for Eugene “Gene” Vincent Cooper, age 80, of Marshall, will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.  Private burial will be in the North Marshall Cemetery at a later date with Rev. Tom Donaldson officiating.   Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.

     He was born to George V. and Cecil (Woods) Cooper on February 28, 1929 on the family farm west of Marshall, and died Monday, August 17, 2009, at his home near Marshall.

    Gene grew up in the Marshall area and attended school there.  On May 26, 1950, he married Joyce Elaine Snyder and they made their home on a farm near Marshall.  They continued to live at this farm until his death.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved being with his grandchildren and visiting with people.  He was on the Douglas COOP board for over twenty years and drove a school bus for Marshall Schools.

    He is survived by his wife Joyce of the home; two daughters, Linda Peterburs and husband Mark of Edmond, and Annette Shelby and husband Brad of Marshall; one grandchild Evan Peterburs; and one great grandchild Hattie Zimmer; and two sisters, Leoba Cramer of Florida, and Ruby Ward of Kansas.

    Gene was preceded in death by his parents, sister Laura Mitchell, and granddaughter Bethany Peckham.
