Funeral services for
Delmar Arlie Berkenbile,
89, of Hunter, will be
Tuesday, February 27,
2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the
Hunter Christian Church
with the Reverend Devon
McAnally and Minister
Lane Buckley
officiating.
Burial will follow in
Memorial Park Cemetery,
Enid, under the
direction of
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home. The family
will be having a
visitation Monday from
6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
at the funeral home.
Delmar was
born on the family farm
east of Hennessey on
March 27, 1917 to
Charles Oscar and Alma
Elizabeth (Curry)
Berkenbile and died on
February 23, 2007 in
Enid, Oklahoma.
He grew up on
the same family farm at
Hennessey and on
September 29, 1940,
married Alta Mae Morris
in Hennessey. They
farmed southwest of
Hennessey, east of
Hennessey, Garber and
Hunter area. They
moved to the farm at
Hunter in the Spring of
1950. He was a
longtime member of the
Hunter Christian Church,
which he helped to
build. He was a
member of the Farmers
Co-op, and organized the
Cattle Club Building
Fund at the Hunter
Christian Church.
Delmar was a proud
hardworking farmer,
devoted husband, father,
and grandfather.
He lived with high
standards and morals
that he left with his
children and
grandchildren.
He was
preceded in death by his
parents, two brothers,
Leland and Hollis
Berkenbile.
He is
survived by his devoted
and loving wife, Alta
Mae of the home; six
children, Joyce &
husband, Merle Young of
Mt. Home, Idaho,
Patricia & husband,
Walter Jenkins, of
Hunter, Lucretia &
husband, Gary Mills, of
Mansfield, Texas,
Jaquita & husband, Jerry
Icenhower, of Yukon,
Oklahoma, Dean & wife,
Karen Berkenbile of
Hunter, and Chuck
Berkenbile of Enid; one
brother, Charles Vernon
Berkenbile of Celina,
Texas; three sisters,
Irene States of
Hennessey, Oklahoma,
Juanita Rogers of
Dallas, Texas and Aleene
Self of Hinton,
Oklahoma; 15
grandchildren, 24 great
grandchildren, nieces,
nephews, other relatives
and many friends.
Memorials may
be made through the
funeral home to Hunter
Christian Church Cattle
Club Building Fund.
