A funeral service for Edward “Joe” Stephens, age 63, will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at the First Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Dan Barrick and Pastor Marilyn Murray officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.  Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home.

He was born to Elbert M. and Nellie May (Endsley) Stephens on July 10, 1944 in Oklahoma City, and passed away Monday, September 3, 2007, at his home in Enid.

Joe grew up in Davenport, OK. and then served in the United States Army.  He resided in Enid, where he was the owner and operator of Stephens Landscaping.   On June 25, 1992, he married Janet Gayle Bell in Enid.  Joe  was a member of First Assembly of God Church and the American Legion. 

He is survived by his wife Gayle, of the home; children, Mavis Brooks of Mayetta, KS, Billy Joe Stephens of Mustang, Peggy Nicole Long of Holdenville, Larry Bartlett of Mustang, Kristie Jensen of Enid, Shelly Magallanez of Enid, and Tracy Anderson of Enid; eleven grandchildren; three brothers, James Stephens of Enid, Bill Stephens of Mannford, and Melvin Stephens of Enid; four sisters, Mary Ninness of Enid, Florence McDannald of Covington, Marjorie Liming of Purcell, and Jeanie Beggs of Enid.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Elbert and Nellie Stephens, and two sisters, Betty Newman and Dorothy Dillard.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love.
