Funeral
services for Elizabeth
K. Regier, age 100, will
be held on Wednesday
April 23, 2008, at 10:00
a.m. in the Enid
Mennonite Brethren
Church, with Pastor
Garvie Schmidt
officiating. Burial
will be in the Memorial
Park Cemetery.
Arrangements are by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home.
Elizabeth
was born on April 4,
1908, west of Waukomis
to Abraham and Mary
(Brown) Wiens and died
on April 19, 2008 in
Enid.
She attended
school in Drummond,
Inola, and Hillsboro,
Kansas. Then, on
October 16, 1924, she
married John I. Regier.
They had one son. In
their early married
life, they lived on a
farm north of Enid.
They tried farming in
the Texas Panhandle
during the Dust Bowl,
and tried to make a
living in California
before returning to the
farm north of Enid.
They were married for
sixty years before his
death in 1984. She was
a homemaker and farm
wife. Elizabeth was
very successful in her
business adventures from
selling eggs, to buying
farms. She was a
self-taught pianist and
organist. She loved
music, gardening,
sewing, and helping with
the grandchildren.
Elizabeth
became a Christian when
she was a young girl.
Later in life, she
played the piano, organ,
and taught Sunday School
at the Westside Baptist
Church and the Olivet
Baptist Church. She
later became an active
member in the Enid
Mennonite Brethren
Church until health
problems prevented her
from attending church
activities.
She
is survived by her only
child, John and wife
Barbara; grandsons,
Rodney and wife Jeanie,
Ed and wife Sandra, and
granddaughter-in-law
Noemi; seven
great-grandchildren; and
four
great-great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth
was preceded in death by
her husband John, a
grandson, Steven, her
parents, three brothers,
and three sisters.
Memorials
may be made through the
funeral home to the Enid
Mennonite Brethren
Church to the Mennonite
Brethren Missions and
Services International,
or charity of choice.
