            The funeral for Evelyn Irene Sanders, age 93, will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ron Olson, pastor of Wesleyan Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

            She was born to George E. and Florence V. (Shepherd) Sanders on a farm southwest of Hennessey on March 15, 1915, and died Monday, March 24, 2008, in Enid.

            Evelyn attended elementary school in Mound Ridge, a one-room school southwest of Hennessey, and graduated from high school at Moore, OK.  She then graduated from Central State College on August 13, 1942.  On August 8, 1954, she received a Master of Education from the University of Oklahoma in Norman.

             Evelyn started teaching in a one-room school east of Hennessey.  She also taught in Dover, Marlow, Bartlesville and the three-room school of Cimarron Valley in Ringwood.  After teaching at Enid High School for seventeen years, she retired.  Evelyn  taught school for over forty-one years.  She loved teaching and was always interested in following the success of her students.

            Evelyn was a member of Enid First Baptist Church, and attended faithfully as long as her health allowed.  She also was a member of Enid’s Christian Temperance Union and a long-time member of Delta Kappa Gamma of Enid.

            She is survived by her brother Stanley E. Sanders of Edmond, her sister Susan Elizabeth Sanders of Enid; two aunts; two nephews; and many grand nephews and nieces, as well as many friends.

            She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Jeff Seay Sanders.
