The funeral
for Frank Andrew Rust,
Sr., 81, will be at
11:30 AM Wednesday, Dec.
19, 2007, at the
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev.
Chris Tolle
officiating. Burial
will be in Ware Cemetery
near Jet.. Visitation
with the family will be
Tuesday evening from
6:00 to 7:30 PM at the
funeral home.
He was born
to Oscar Alva and Sadie
Ellen (Ward) Rust on
Feb. 8, 1926 in Byron,
OK, and died Saturday,
Dec. 15, 2007, at his
home in Enid.
Frank grew
up in the Salt Plains
Area. He served in the
U.S. Army, where he was
a paratrooper in the 82nd
Airborne and the 508th
Infantry. On Oct. 3,
1947, he married Maxine
“Charlie” Stanley in
Chesterfield, South
Carolina. They lived in
Baltimore and Oklahoma,
and then moved to
California in 1951.
There he sold poultry to
movie stars including
Rex Harrison and Shirley
Temple. After that he
worked as a centerless
grinder for post
grinding. In 1973, they
moved back to Oklahoma.
Frank got a job building
oval-shaped barns for a
couple of months. He
then worked at Adams
Alloy in Wakita until
his retirement in 1990.
Frank
enjoyed hunting and
especially fishing. He
like playing checkers
and teaching others how
to play with either
hand. Frank was a
member of Enid Masonic
Lodge # 80, the 32nd
Scottish Rite Mason of
Guthrie, Tulsa Akdar
Shrine, the Northwest
Oklahoma Funsters, and
the Enid Moose Lodge.
He is
survived by five
children, Frank Rust II
of Blythe, CA, Mike Rust
and wife Jackie of
Longbeach, CA, Keith
Rust and wife Mary of
Baldwin Park, CA, Steve
Rust and wife Carol of
Enid, and Kathy Duerden
and husband Darryl of
Enid; twenty
grandchildren; forty-one
great-grandchildren;
three great, great
grandchildren.
Frank was
preceded in death by his
wife, Maxine, and three
sisters, Agnes Hart,
Martha Rust, and Leota
Thomas.
Memorials
may be made through the
funeral home to Akdar
Shrine Transportation
Fund.
