Recitation of the Rosary
for Frederick Charles
Harris, Sr., age 74, of
Enid will be Wednesday
evening at 7:00 P.M. at
the Anderson-Burris
Funeral Home Chapel,
with The Knights of
Columbus leading the
rosary. The Mass
of Christian Burial will
be Thursday at 10:00
A.M. at St. Francis
Xavier Church, with Rev.
Kevin Ratterman, Rev.
Bruce Natsuhara, and
Rev. Ernest Flusche
concelebrating.
Burial will be in
Calvary Cemetery, Enid,
with arrangements by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home.
Fred was born to
Frederick H. and Mary
(Leonard) Harris on
October 29, 1932 in
Lowell, Massachusetts,
and died on July 23,
2007 in Enid.
Fred graduated from
Lowell High School in
1950. In January
of 1951 he moved to
Washington D.C. to work
for the Air Force at the
Pentagon. He was a
member of the Virginia
National Guard. On
September 18, 1954 he
married Miss Grace Marie
Adie at the Immaculate
Conception Church in
Lowell, Massachusetts.
They made their home in
Virginia until Fred was
called to active duty in
February of 1955.
The next 30 years of
military service took
Fred and his family to
Bermuda, Washington
D.C., Germany, Indiana,
Texas, and Guam.
They moved to Enid in
July of 1976. Fred
retired from the
military in 1982.
Fred was a long time
member of St. Francis
Xavier Catholic Church,
a founding member of the
St. Francis Men’s Club,
and a proud member of
the Knights of Columbus
for over 55 years.
While a member of
Council 1044 in
Oklahoma, he served as
State Master, Squires
Chairman from 1979 to
1981, State Program
Coordinator from 1981 to
1983, and Knight of the
Year in 1985. Fred
was also a member of the
Knights of Columbus 4th
Degree Assembly 854.
He is survived by his
wife, Grace of the home;
two sons, Frederick
Charles Harris, Jr. of
Los Angels, CA, Patrick
Timothy Harris and wife
Resa, of Alva; two
daughters, Grace Marie
Clifford of St. Peters,
MO, and Elizabeth Ann
Mooney of Enid; five
grandchildren Catherine
(Cati), Timothy, and
Emily Harris, Frances
Ann and Evan Mooney; two
brothers, Ralph S.
Harris of Minnetonka,
MN, and Kevin Harris of
Lowell, MA; five sisters
Mary Louise McMahon of
Palm Beach Garden, FL.,
Charlotte Pare of
Lowell, MA, Joan Gray of
Chelmsford, MA, Isabel
Light of Howell, MI, and
Martha Anderson of
Glouster, MA; and
several nieces and
nephews.
Fred was preceded in
death by his parents, a
brother Robert Harris,
and a sister Maryclare
St. Louis.
Memorials may be made
through the funeral home
to St. Francis Xavier
Church Stained Glass
Restoration Fund.
