Hackett, 54, of Enid,
will be 1:00 p.m.
Friday, February 12,
2010, at the First
Baptist Church with
Reverend Keith Miller
officiating. A
graveside service will
be at 3:30 p.m. Friday
in the Blackwell
Cemetery, Blackwell,
Oklahoma under the
direction of
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home, Enid. Visitation
with the family will be
Thursday evening from
6:00 p.m. until 7:30
p.m. at their home at
3924 W. Rupe.
Susan was born on
November 8, 1955 in
Blackwell, Oklahoma to
Lawrence “Lonnie” and
Norma Sweet Schmidt and
died on February 10,
2010, after a courageous
battle with cancer at
her home in Enid. She
grew up in Blackwell and
graduated from Blackwell
High School in 1974.
She received her
Associates Degree in
medical lab from
Northern Oklahoma
College. Susan worked
as a secretary for
Blackwell First
Christian Church and
later as a Librarian in
Blackwell. On July 9,
1976, she married Kevin
Hackett in the First
Christian Church in
Blackwell. They made
their home in Blackwell
and later El Reno,
Oklahoma. She worked as
a lab tech for Fort Reno
Agricultural Station and
later worked at
Hutchinson Nursery. The
family moved to Enid in
1984. Susan was
self-employed at Best of
Friends Crafts, and
later as the activities
director at Greenbrier
Nursing Home for 17
years. She worked the
last two years at The
Commons in social
services. Susan was a
member of the First
Baptist Church and the
Cherokee Strip Quilting
Guild.
She was preceded in
death by her parents,
her grandparents, and
several cousins.
Susan is survived by
her husband, Kevin of
the home; two sons,
Brandon Kyle Hackett and
his wife, Katie of
Tulsa, OK, and Cole
Lawrence Hackett of
Oklahoma City, OK; one
brother, Daryl Schmidt
of Oklahoma City; other
relatives and many
friends.
Memorials may be
made through the funeral
home to Susan G. Komen
Foundation, First
Baptist Church, Enid, or
Oklahoma 4-H Foundation.
