A Memorial Service for
Robert Edwin Healey, age
85, will be at 11:00
A.M. Saturday at the
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home Chapel, with Rev.
David Wigs officiating.
He was born to Roger
William and Ora Aldean
(Dupuis) Healey on
October 22, 1923, in
Springfield, Mass., and
died Monday, October 5,
2009, in Enid
Bob graduated from
Ware High School in
Ware, Mass, Stockbridge
School of Agriculture,
and University of
Massachusetts majoring
in floriculture. He was
an accomplished floral
artist, featured in
several FTD Floral
Design Schools in
Oklahoma, Texas, and
Arkansas.
He
served three years
during World War II at
the Prisoner of War Camp
in Hereford, TX. In
1944 he married Bobbye-Nell
Cass and they enjoyed 50
years of living and
loving.
Bob responded to the
call from his Lord to
enter the Pastoral
Ministry of the United
Methodist Church. He
graduated from the
University of Tulsa
earning Bachelors and
Masters Degrees. He was
a certified Director of
Christian Education.
Over his 43 years of
ministry he served
Methodist churches in
Tulsa, Coweta, Noble,
Okla. City, Stillwater,
Healdton, Broken Bow,
Hobart and Enid. He
earned his Secondary
Education Teaching
Certificate from
Oklahoma State
University. Robert
went on to pursue his
Theological Education at
Oral Roberts Graduate
Seminary, where he
served one year as an
instructor in the
Humanities Department.
He was director of the
Tulsa Easter Pageant,
director of the Tulsa
State Fair Parade, and
director in the Tulsa
Junior Chamber of
Commerce. He was a
member of Enid Masonic
Lodge 80 and a 32nd
Degree Mason, Scottish
Rite. He served as
president of Enid AARP
3040 and also served as
chairman of Enid Friends
of the Library and
chairman of the Enid
Public Library. Over
the years he was a
member of Rotary and
Lions Club.
Bob loved to travel and
considered his baptism
in the Jordan River one
of the highlights of his
life. He was an avid
golfer when his health
permitted. He loved
classical music and read
extensively. Upon
retirement he served as
Interim Pastor at Elm
Flat Christian Church in
Cleo Springs for 4
years, Enid Church of
the Brethren for 6
months, and then as
Chaplain at the
Methodist Nursing Home
from 1991 – 2003.
He is survived by
his son Edwin Healey of
Aurora, CO; and daughter
Maureen Nichols and
husband Ron of Denton,
TX; three grandchildren,
Marleen Carroll and
husband Joshua, Ryan,
Healey and wife Vanessa,
and Crystal Wicker and
husband Russell; and
five
great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in
death by his parents,
wife Bobbye-Nell in
2004, and sisters Doris
and Norma.
Memorials may be
made through the funeral
home to Our Daily Bread.
