The funeral service for
DeLores Marguerite
Heitfeld, age 82, will
be at 11:00 A.M. Monday,
January 12, 2009, at
Immanuel Lutheran Church
in Breckinridge, with
Rev. Arthur M. McCormick
officiating. Burial
will be at 1:00 P.M.
Tuesday in Zion Mt.
Calvary Lutheran
Cemetery in Herkimer,
Kansas, with Rev. Donald Hofman officiating.
Arrangements are by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home. Visitation with
the family will be
Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00
P.M. at the funeral
home.
She was born to
Louis Philip and
Catherine (Schierkolk)
Meinecke on August 20,
1926, in Herkimer,
Kansas, and died Friday,
January 9, 2009, in
Enid.
DeLores grew up in
Herkimer and was
confirmed at the
Herkimer Lutheran
Church. She graduated
from Marysville, KS High
School. In 1945 she
moved to Enid, where she
was a mother, homemaker,
and farmer’s wife. She
was a longtime member of
Immanuel Lutheran Church
in Breckenridge, where
she was active in LWML.
She loved to quilt and
garden and was a member
of the Harmony Extension
Group. DeLores sang with
The Melody Girls and The
Garfield Singers. In
1986, she was named
Homemaker of the Year by
the Enid Chamber of
Commerce. She was
active in the
Breckinridge Community
Center.
She is survived by
six children, Rod
Heitfeld and Linda
Thomas of Enid, Ed and
Willa Heitfeld of Sand
Springs, Marilyn Brehmer
of Dexter, MO, Ruby and
Dennis Riemann of Enid,
Judy and Wendell Vencl
of Garber, Roy & VaNee
Heitfeld of Colordado
Springs, CO; twelve
grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; and
one sister LaVerle
Duever of Herkimer, KS.
DeLores was
preceded in death by two
brothers Willard and
Louis Meinecke, and one
sister Opal Ellis.
Memorials may be
made through the funeral
home to Immanuel
Lutheran Church Cemetery
Fund or Breckinridge
Community Center.
