The funeral for Helen
Virginia (Johndrow)
Riemann, 84, will be at
10:00 a.m. Friday July
25, 2008, at St. Gregory
the Great Catholic
Church with Father Larry
Kowalski officiating.
Burial will follow at
the Calvary Cemetery
under the direction of
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home.
She was born January 1,
1924 to Nelson and
Minnie (Messal) Johndrow
in Enid, and died
Monday, July 21, 2008 in
Enid.
She graduated from
Enid High School and
completed an Associate
Degree in Business from
Oklahoma A & M. Helen
worked at Oklahoma
Natural Gas Co. for two
years. She met Nealy
Claud Riemann at a dance
while Nealy was in pilot
training at the Enid
Army Air Field. They
were married on March
18, 1944 in Victoria,
Texas. After his
discharge from the
service, they moved to
Hunter where they farmed
for 37 years. During
this time, Helen also
worked for the draft
board and Vance Air
Force Base as a civil
service worker for 20
years, retiring in March
1985.
Helen enjoyed attending
St. Gregory’s Catholic
Church. She was active
in her church, taking
communion to shut-ins,
baking communion bread,
making craft items for
church bazaars, and
helping in any way she
could.
Helen was an avid
gardener, who also loved
to cook and bake, and
made beautiful quilts
for family and friends.
She was an eager
fitness follower, taking
aerobics classes and
enjoying line dancing at
the Enid Senior Center.
She volunteered as a
Pink Lady at St. Mary’s
hospital for several
years, and was named
Volunteer of the Year.
She was the best kind of
mother and grandmother,
making every occasion a
wonderful event and a
time to share and have
fun. She loved parties,
friends and family and
made everyone a part of
her happy life.
She is survived by one
daughter and son-in-law,
Claudia and Mike
Hazleton of Porum, OK;
three sons, Neal Riemann
of Ft. Meyers, Fla.,
Dennis and Ruby Riemann
of North Enid, Bruce
Riemann of Littleton,
CO; 8 grandchildren:
Neala Harper, Mike and
Matt Hazleton, Jessica
and Jamie Riemann,
Lindsey and Patrick
Riemann, Lauren Ochs;
and 4 great
grandchildren: Jordyn
and Jalen Hazleton,
Kwinton Riemann, and
Kyle Hazleton.
She was preceded in
death by her husband,
Nealy Riemann; brother
Lawrence Johndrow, and
sister Dorthy Simpson.
Memorials may be made to
Oklahoma Medical
Research Foundation
-Alzheimer’s Division
with the funeral home
serving as custodian of
