He was born to Jack “Smiles” and Elsie (Drake) Goodridge on December 11, 1947 in Wewoka, and died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at his home in Enid.

Jack lived in various places due to his father’s work at the telephone company.  When he was sixteen, the family settled in Cherokee, and he graduated from Cherokee High School in 1967.  Jack was the team captain of the football team.  After graduation, Jack attended Auto Mechanics School in Oklahoma City.  He then joined the U.S. Army in 1968 and served in Viet Nam.  He returned to Cherokee three years later and worked at the Cherokee Mill.  He also worked at Waldon’s in Fairview.  On June 12, 1989, he married Ramona Veatch, and they made their home in Dacoma.  Jack began working at Crabtree Correctional Center in Helena in 1986, where he was in charge of the gun gang, a member of the Cert team, and a Certified Cleet Instructor.  He was promoted to Captain and retired in 1998 due to health issues.  Jack was the assistant caretaker at Akdar Park, Keystone Lake, for several years and was the caretaker from 2006 to 2008.  He and his wife Ramona returned in Enid in November 2007.  Jack was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Akdar Shrine.  He enjoyed music and played with his friends in a band, The Midnight Rustlers.  Jack also enjoyed fishing, spending time at the gun range, and was involved in a pistol league.

He is survived by his wife Ramona of the home; daughter Christy Salyers of  Frisco, TX; son Mike Cloyd of Cherokee; step-daughter Mikala Hadley of Enid; brother Jim Goodridge of Greeley, CO; sister Diane Pierce of Cherokee; and eight grandchildren.
