A private memorial service for James Leon Melvin, 49, of Enid, will be Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.  Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.  There will be no visitation or register book at the funeral home.

James was born on October 2, 1958 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Lewis John and Mary Ann (Beauzo) Melvin and died on January 5, 2008 in Enid, Oklahoma.  He grew up in Tulsa and moved with his family to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where he graduated from High School.  James attended votech in Bartlesville and studied upholstery.    On November 24, 1992, he married Jaclynn Cash in the House of Prayer Church in Enid, where they made their home.  He attended the House of Prayer Church and later Zoe Bible Church. 

James was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ann and Dale Sumpter; sister, Barbara Lay; brothers, Billy Ray Melvin, Henry Issac Melvin and Jessie Lee Melvin.

He is survived by his wife, Jaclynn of the home; a step-daughter, Vicki Lee Dutton; his father, Lewis John Melvin of Missouri; five brothers, Bernard W. Melvin, David S. Melvin, William “Bill” John Melvin, and Robert “Bob” Don Melvin, all of Missouri, John D. Melvin of Perry, Oklahoma; two sisters, Anna Manes of Missouri and Delpha Horton-Helms of Enid; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
