Talbott, age 67, of
Fairmont, will be at

March 5, 2008, at
Pioneer School, with
Rev. Tommy Donaldson
officiating. Burial
will be in the Bethany
Cemetery, with
arrangements by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home. Visitation with
the family will be
Tuesday evening from
5:30 to 7:00 PM at the
funeral home.
Jim was born
to Orville and Lena
Thelma (Smith) Talbott
on May 16, 1940 in Enid,
and died Sunday, March
2, 2008, in Enid.
Jim grew up
on a farm just south of
Covington, and lived
there until his family
moved to the Pioneer
School Community near
Waukomis when he was in
the 6th
grade. After he
graduated from Pioneer
in 1958, he went on
harvest crews with Tom
Dillingham and Stanley
Dotson. He also had his
own harvest crew and
went north for about
three years.
Then Jim
went to work for Home
Oil and Gas of Waukomis
and drove a propane
truck for several
years. After being high
school sweethearts, he
and Lamoine Stephens
were married on
September 10, 1967 at
University Place Church
in Enid. Jim had begun
farming and also worked
for Hedges Construction,
Devoll Livestock Hauling
and Stanley Dotson’s
Livestock Hauling. Jim
also did custom swathing
and baling in addition
to his own farming. In
1977, Jim began hauling
milk for AMPI, and
worked there until
1985. Again Jim began
working for Stanley
Dotson hauling livestock
until 1986 when Jim
began his own livestock
hauling business. In
1982, Jim ran for
Pioneer Pleasant Vale
School Board and was
elected. This year was
his 25th year
on the school board.
Jim also served on the
Fairmont Co-op Board for
a number of years.
Jim and
Lamoine celebrated their
40th
anniversary in
September, a party that
he put together with the
help of his children,
and it was definitely a
highlight of his life.
He died doing the job he
loved, livestock
hauling.
Jim is
survived by his wife
Lamoine; his son Jerry
and his fiancée Kari and
her daughter Sarah; his
daughter Patty and her
son Taylor; and sister
Ruth Ann Landwehr and
husband Merlin and their
children Rochelle and
Matt and his fiancée
Angela.
In lieu of
flowers, donations may
be made through the
funeral home to Garfield
County
4-H Foundation, Pioneer
Pleasant Vale School
Foundation, or Bethlehem
Baptist Church.
