The funeral service
for Clyde O. Johnson,
age 88, will be held at
3:00 P.M. Saturday,
January 9, 2010, at
Golden Oaks Chapel with
Rev. Shorty Unruh and
Brother Leslie Busbee
officiating. Visitation
with the family will be
Friday from 3:00 to 4:00
P.M. at the funeral
home. Arrangements are
by Anderson-Burris
Funeral Home and
Crematory.
Clyde was born to
Henry Hiram and Inez
(Hess) Johnson on April
30, 1921, in North
Manilus, New York, and
died on January 6, 2010,
in Enid, Oklahoma.
Clyde grew up in New
York, and graduated from
Syracuse University. He
then received his
Masters Degrees in
Business and Engineering
from the University of
Missouri at Rolla, MO.
He served in the United
States Navy during
WWII. On Dec. 22, 1945
he married Mildred
“Millie” Peterson in
Minneapolis, MN and they
made their home in
Minneapolis. Upon
his discharge from the
Navy he enlisted in the
Navy Reserve. Then he
worked for Goodyear in
Lincoln, NE, Dayco
Rubber in Dayton, OH and
later in Springfield,
MO. Clyde was a
scoutmaster in Nebraska,
Ohio, and Missouri. He
was a member of St. Paul
United Methodist Church
in Springfield, MO, for
48 years, where he was a
Sunday School teacher
and choir member. He
was the first president
of the Audubon Society
and the Ozark Mountain
Ridgerunners. After age
60, Clyde ran in 13
marathons, including
Pikes Peak Marathon and
Boston Marathon. He was
a 25 gallon blood donor.
They moved to Enid in
November of 2006.
He is survived by his
wife Millie of the home;
three children Clyde
Allen Johnson and wife
Jane of Wheeling, Ill,
Thomas Henry Johnson and
wife Marlene of San
Francisco, CA, and Lynne
Antoinette Millis and
husband Frankie of Enid,
OK; two grandchildren
Josef Franklyn Millis
and Benjamin Allen
Millis; one sister
Shirley Johnson of
Camillus, NY.
He was preceded in
death by his parents,
two brothers Carl and
Leon and an infant
sister.
Memorials may be made
through the funeral home
to Golden Oaks Chapel
fund or St Paul United
Methodist Church,
Springfield, MO.
