The funeral
service for Jimmie Lloyd
Kesner, age 86, of Enid,
will be at 2:00 P.M.
Friday, July 24, 2009,
at Oakwood Christian
Church, with Rev. Eric
Keller officiating.
Burial will be in
Memorial Park Cemetery,
with arrangements by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home. Visitation with
the family will be
Thursday 6:00 to 7:30 PM
at the funeral home.
He was born to
Joe Wheeler and Thelma
Delia (Holloway) Kesner
on December 7, 1922 in
Okemah, OK, and died
Monday, July 20, 2009,
in Enid.
Jimmie grew up in
Enid, graduating from
Enid High School in
1941. During World War
II he served in the
United States Navy. On
January 17, 1945, he
married Doriene Leierer
in Enid, and they made
their home there. He
worked as a switch board
yardmaster for
Burlington Northern
Railroad for many
years. Jimmie was an
active member of Oakwood
Christian Church, V.F.W.,
and Brotherhood of
Railroad Trainmen.
He is survived
by his wife, Doriene of
the home; five
daughters, Carol Hostler
and husband Jim of
Edmond, Karen Randall
and husband Dan of Enid,
Joyce Haines and husband
Paul of Broken Arrow,
Sandra Kirk and husband
Darrell of Bixby, and
Julia Blasdel and
husband Mike of Edmond;
ten grandchildren;
twenty-three
great-grandchildren; and
two sisters, Velma Reed
and husband Arrel of
Kingfisher, and Thelma
Brauser and husband
Stanley of Yukon.
Jimmie was
preceded in death by his
parents, Joe and Thelma
Kesner, son Errol Kesner,
and two brothers, Roy
and Troy Kesner.
Memorials may be made
through the funeral home
to Oakwood Christian
Church Children’s
Remodel Fund or Oklahoma
Medical Research
Foundation – Lung Cancer
Division.
