A Memorial Service
for Mona Marie Lemley,
age 62, of Kingfisher,
will be at 5:00 P.M.
Tuesday, April 28, 2009,
at the Anderson-Burris
Funeral Home Chapel,
with Rev. Gordon R. Epps
officiating. Cremation
arrangements are by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home and Crematory.
She was born to
Murle Lee and Ethel
Grace (Snyder) Gearhart
on September 21, 1946,
in Iola, Kansas, and
died Saturday, April 25,
2009, in Kingfisher
after a courageous
battle with cancer.
Mona grew up in Iola
and graduated from Iola
High School. On July 2,
1964, she married Alton
Troy Lemley in Columbus,
Kansas, and they made
their home in
Coffeyville, KS. They
later lived in Enid,
Lovington, Drummond, and
Kingfisher. Mona worked
for Love’s Store and
then United Supermarket
as a clerk for four
years. She also worked
for the Puritan
Congregational Christian
United Church of Christ
in Drummond. She was
very active in Boy
Scouts, where she was a
Pack Leader, Den Leader,
and Den Leader Coach.
She continued with Boy
Scouts even after her
sons grew older. Mona
enjoyed fishing,
camping, reading,
traveling, crossword
puzzles, and especially
her grandchildren,
Amanda, Christa, Kaitlyn,
Jerrod and Haley.
She is survived by
her husband, Troy Lemley
of the home; two sons,
Alton Troy Lemley, Jr.
and wife Natalie of
Drummond, and Stephen
Lee Lemley and wife
Becky of Lovington, New
Mexico; five
grandchildren; father
Murle Gearhart and wife
Linda of Stillwater; and
two brothers, Melvin
Murle Gearhart of Lehigh,
OK, and Monty Merlin
Gearhart and wife Diana
of Enid.
Mona was preceded in
death by her mother,
Ethel Grace Gearhart,
and son Mark Antony
Lemley.
Memorials may be made to
Relay for Life or
Puritan Congregational
Christian United Church
of Christ in Drummond.
