service for Louis
Richard Humphrey, age
91, will be at 10:00
A.M. Thursday, December
27, 2007, at the
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home Chapel, with Rev.
Dan O’Daniel
officiating. Burial
will be in Memorial Park
Cemetery, with
arrangements by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home.
Louis was
born to George Graham
and Margie Irene
(Miller) Humphrey on
August 3, 1916, in
Kremlin, and died
Sunday, December 23,
2007 in Enid.
He grew up
in Kremlin and attended
Kremlin schools. He
served in the United
States Army during World
War II from 1942 –
1946. He was assigned
to the Combat Engineers,
Light Battalion as a
Rigger 189. His
decorations included the
American Theatre Ribbon,
Philippine Liberation
ribbon with 1 bronze
star, 3 bronze campaign
stars, victory ribbon,
Asiatic Pacific Theatre
ribbon, and the good
conduct ribbon. The
campaigns he
participated in were on
the Mandated Islands,
Southern Philippines,
and Marianas Islands.
He was a life member of
VFW, where he served as
Chaplain. Louis was
also a member of DAV and
the American Legion.
On September 6, 1955, he
married Olive A. Dickman
in Enid. Louis was a
devoted husband,
father, farmer and
raised registered Polled
Herefords for 50 years.
He also worked at the
Enid Livestock Auction.
He is
survived by his wife
Olive of the home; two
sons, Dr. Peter W.
Christiansen and wife
Alice of Miller, MO, and
Richard D. Christiansen
and wife Patricia of
Canon City, CO; eight
grandchildren;
twenty-one
great-grandchildren; and
two great, great
grandchildren.
Louis was
preceded in death by his
parents, daughter
Christine M. Leake
Barwick, and brother
Leon Fredrick Humphrey,
and four sisters.
