funeral service for
Martha H. Wright, 92,
will be at 10:00 a.m.,
Saturday, January 26,
2008 in the
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home Chapel with the
Reverend Susan Southall
officiating. A
graveside service will
be at 3:30 p.m. in the
Oaklawn Cemetery, in
Sulphur with the
Reverend Bobby Allison
officiating.
Arrangements are under
the direction of
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home, Enid.
Martha was born on
October 16, 1915 in
Nashville, Tennessee to
Hugo and Roseland
(Taylor) Dickerson and
died on January 22, 2008
in the Golden Oaks
Nursing Center, Enid.
She graduated from
Tennessee School for the
Deaf in Knoxville,
Tennessee in 1937. On
May 6, 1938, she married
Arnold Wright in her
parent’s home. They
made their home in
Sulphur, Oklahoma for
four years, before
moving to Pauls Valley,
where they resided for
thirteen years. They
lived in Oklahoma City
for two years, before
moving to Enid. Martha
loved playing cards,
watching basketball,
bowling, and was an
excellent seamstress.
The family enjoyed her
homemade candy. Martha
was a member of the
First United Methodist
Church, Enid Senior
Center, Oklahoma
Association for the
Deaf, and the National
Association of the
Deaf.
Martha was preceded in
death by her parents,
and one son Robert E.
Wright, one
granddaughter Jennifer
Wright, and one sister
Dorothy Dorris.
She is survived by her
husband, Arnold; one son
and his wife, Joe and
Jerrie Wright of Sulphur;
daughter-in-law, Sherma
Wright of Sioux Falls,
South Dakota; three
grandchildren, Sharon
Gregory and her husband,
Terry of Sulphur, Bill
Wright of Wears Valley,
Tennessee, Debbie Heesch
and husband, Tim, of
Sioux Falls, S.D.; four
great grandchildren,
Brittany and Cameron
Gregory and Kaylie and
Jordan Heesch; one
niece; one nephew; and
other relatives.
