A graveside
memorial service for
Jahleel Almer Mauk, Sr.,
age 101, will be at
11:00 AM Saturday,
October 31, 2009, at the
Enid Cemetery, with Ray
Rose officiating.
Arrangements are by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home and Crematory.
He was born to
William Homer and Laura
Anna (Nation) Mauk on
March 5, 1908, four
miles north of Carrier,
and died Saturday,
October 24, 2009, at The
Commons in Enid.
He grew up on the
family farm, graduating
from Hillsdale High
School in 1927. He then
attended Kansas State A
& M College in
Manhattan, KS for one
year. Afterward, he
went to Wisconsin, where
he worked as a
commercial fisherman at
Lake of the Woods and
then became a
professional harvester.
On November 30, 1932, he
married Pauline Cauthen
in Perry. Jahleel
worked briefly at
Champlin Refinery before
working as a truck
driver and deliveryman,
retiring after 19 years
with Headlee Oil and
Moore Distributing. He
was a member of North
Garland Church of
Christ, and later
attended Garriott Road
Church of Christ.
He is survived by
his son Jahleel A. Mauk
Jr. and wife Jane of
Sperry; daughter Shirley
Lorenz and husband Jerry
of Enid; nine
grandchildren;
twenty-one great
grandchildren; and
fifteen great, great
grandchildren.
He was preceded in
death by his wife
Pauline, infant son
Ronald Lee, infant
granddaughter, parents,
four brothers, and four
sisters.
Memorials may be
made through the funeral
home to In Search of the
Lord’s Way or Hospice
Circle of Love.
