The funeral service for
Robert L. Mercer, age
93, will be at 10:00 AM
Saturday, October 31,
2009 at the First
Assembly of God Church,
with Pastor Dan Barrick
officiating. Burial
will be in Memorial Park
Cemetery, with
arrangements by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home.
He was born to
Edgar E. and Ida Mae (Ratledge)
Mercer on June 10, 1916,
in Carmen, and went to
be with his Lord on
Sunday, October 25,
2009, in Enid after a
lengthy illness.
Bob grew up in
Carmen and graduated
from Carmen High School
in 1936. On May l,
1939, he married
Virginia M. Jantz in
Enid, and they made
their home in Enid. He
was employed by Long
Bell Lumber Company
until it closed. He was
also manager of Locke
Supply in Enid and
Bartlesville. Bob was a
salesman all his life,
and retired in 1982 from
Georgie Boy
Manufacturing Company in
Edwardsburg, Michigan,
at which time they
returned to Enid. He
was past Exalted Ruler
and lifetime member of
Enid Elk Lodge. Bob was
a devout Christian,
having given his life to
the Lord in 1945, and
was a member of First
Assembly of God Church
for sixty-four years.
He is survived
by his wife of 70 years,
Virginia, of the home;
three daughters Marjorie
Watson and husband Larry
of Ponca City, Roberta Mazarek
of Edwardsburg,
Michigan, and Barbara
Brown and husband Fred
of Troy, Michigan; one
son Edgar Mercer and
wife Rita of Merritt
Island, FL; eleven
grandchildren; and
twenty-five great
grandchildren; two
nieces Maxine Crawford
of Norman and Fleetadean
Reid of Alva
He was preceded
in death by his parents,
two brothers , and two
sisters.
