The memorial service for
George Robert “Bob”
Qualls, age 105, will be
at 11:00 A.M. Friday,
January 2, 2008, at the
Central Christian
Church, with Rev. John
McLemore and Rev. Don
Johnson officiating.
Cremation arrangements
are by Anderson-Burris
Funeral Home and
Crematory.
He was born to Matt
Franklin and Minnie
Miley (Tucker) Qualls on
April 11, 1903 in
Savannah, Tennessee, and
died Sunday, December
28, 2008, in Enid.
Bob graduated from
the Oklahoma School for
the Blind in Muskogee.
He then attended Texas
Christian University,
earning his Bachelors
Degree and Masters
Degree. He then earned
a Certification of
Completion from Currie
School of Expression in
Boston, Massachusetts in
1930, and an Education
Certificate from
Northeastern College in
Tahlequah in 1932. He
married Layleth Arnell
Jones on December 19,
1936, in Oklahoma City,
and they made their home
in Enid where Bob
operated a vending stand
at the Post Office for
several years while
building his piano
tuning business.
He was a piano tuner
and owned and operated
Qualls Piano Service.
Bob was a member of
Central Christian
Church. He was a
charter board member and
past president of the
Oklahoma League for the
Blind, charter member
and past president of
the Oklahoma Council of
the Blind, member of the
American Council of the
Blind, and charter
member of the Piano
Technicians Guild, and a
registered piano
technician.
He is survived by
two sons, Robert C.
Qualls and wife Lynne of
Denver, Colorado, and
George D. Qualls and
wife Frances of
Appleton, Wisconsin,
and; one granddaughter,
Jennifer Stone of
Appleton, Wisconsin.
Bob was preceded in
death by his father and
mother; his wife Layleth
in 1987; three brothers,
Everett Qualls, Floyd
Qualls, Ervin Qualls;
and one sister, Ollie
May Qualls.
Memorials may be made
through the funeral home
to Hospice Circle of
Love Respite Building
Fund or Central
Christian Church
Caregivers.
