The funeral
service for Rev. Chester
Pat Vaughan, age 80,
will be at 10:00 A.M.
Friday, May 16, 2008, at
Evangel Assembly of God
Church. Burial will be
in the Hennessey
Cemetery, with
arrangements by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home. Visitation with
the family will be
Thursday evening from
6:00 to 7:30 PM at the
funeral home.
He was born
to Pat and Dema Vaughan
on August 11, 1927 in
Mulhall, OK, and died
Wednesday, May 14, 2008,
in Enid.
Pat grew up
in the Dover and
Crescent area. He
served in the United
States Army from 1945 to
1947. He was a part of
the Army of Occupation
in Japan in 1946.
During this time, he was
a jeep driver for
General Macarthur. He
married Melva Maloney on
July 3, 1946, and eight
children were born to
this union. In 1962, he
began ministering in
Vassar Church near
Mulhall. Pat was a
licensed Assembly of God
minister and pastor from
the 1960’s until his
retirement in 1993. Pat
was also employed with
the Oklahoma State
Highway Department until
his retirement in 1985.
Pat continued his
calling of preaching the
gospel until 1993.
After his retirement, he
continued teaching his
Sunday School class for
several years. Pat
loved to hunt and train
coonhounds.
He is
survived by his wife,
Melva of the home; six
children, Patsy Schaffer
of Perry, Tim Vaughan of
Perry, John Vaughan of
Garber, Kathy Smith of
Lucien, Andy Vaughan of
Lamont, and Mark Vaughan
of DeKalb, TX; sixteen
grandchildren;
twenty-one great
grandchildren; one
brother Lester Vaughan
of Enid; one sister Erma
Lee Valdonskie of Texas;
and many other family
members and friends.
Pat is
preceded in death by
daughter Sharon Ann
Vaughan in 1960, son
Mike Vaughan in 1993,
and ten brothers and
sisters.
Memorials
may be made through the
funeral home to Evangel
Assembly of God Church
or Hospice Circle of
Love.
