            The funeral for Ruth M. Henley, age 100, will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 19, 2008 at the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home, with  Rev. Ron Olson, and Rev. David Martinez, Jr. officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.  A visitation with family and friends will be Friday, January 18, 2008 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

            She was born to Charles A. and Icie (Gratner) Nichols on May 14, 1907, in Wichita, Kansas, and died Monday, January 14, 2008, in Enid.

            Ruth graduated from Enid High School in 1926.  She later attended Miltonville Wesleyan Bible School in Kansas.  She worked for the United States Navy for over twenty-seven years as a LVN Nurse, at Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital in Oceanside, California.  In 1941 she briefly returned to Enid where she was Ordained as a minister.  In March 1944, she married Jose Sanchez.  He died in 1954.  Ruth was a missionary with the Wesleyan Church to a Mexican Mission first in Carlsbad, CA, Oceanside, CA, and then Vista, CA.  She was also a missionary to Mexico, where she interpreted Spanish for the carpenters building the churches.  She also taught in Texas at a school for handicapped students and itinerant workers for two years.  She married John Harold Henley on December 18, 1984 in Mercedes, TX, he preceded her in death in 1994.  They moved back to California and worked with missions in Ensenada, and  Baja, Mexico.  She also worked in a daycare in Vista, CA.  Ruth moved back to Enid in 1996.

            She is survived by daughter Rachel Lyons of Milton, Delaware; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Olive Hobbs of Enid; and numerous nieces and nephews.

            Ruth was preceded in death by four brothers, and three sisters.

            Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love.
