The Mass of
Christian Burial for
Edward Dominick Semrad,
age 79, will be at 11:00
A.M. Friday, July 31,
2009, at St. Francis
Xavier Catholic Church,
with Rev. Kevin
Ratterman officiating.
Recitation of the Rosary
will be at 7:00 PM
Thursday evening at the
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home. Burial will be in
the Bison Cemetery.
Edward was born
to Frank Vaclav and
Frances (Krejci) Semrad
on August 14, 1929 in
Marshall, and died
Tuesday, July 28, 2009,
in Enid.
He grew up in
Marshall and graduated
from Marshall High
School. On October 5,
1949, he married Gloria
“Doddie” McCreary at St.
Camilius Church in
Marshall. They made
their home in Thayer,
Kansas, where he was a
carpenter and farmed.
In 1957, they moved to
Enid. Ed worked as a
carpenter for Munger/Emmons
for two years. He then
was a self-employed
home builder until
2002. He was a member
of Enid Homebuilders
Association, St. Francis
Xavier Catholic Church,
and former member of
Knights of Columbus. He
loved to fish and hunt.
Ed is survived
by his wife Gloria “Doddie”,
of the home; four sons,
Edward Lee Semrad and
wife Sharon, Larry
Semrad and wife Debbie,
Gary Semrad and wife
Sandy, all of Enid, and
Lynn “Bud” Semrad and
Cathy Ford, of Waukomis;
eight grandchildren;
eleven
great-grandchildren;
three brothers, Willie
Semrad of Douglas, Emil
Semrad of Thayer, KS,
and Joe Semrad of
Galesburg, KS; and one
sister, Agnes Parker of
Thayer, KS.
He was preceded
in death by his parents
Frank and Francis Semrad;
two sisters, Beatrice
Schubert and Mary
McCarthy; and five
brothers, Adolph, Wence,
Robert, George and
Bernard Semrad.
Memorials may be made
through the funeral home
to Our Daily Bread or
Hospice Circle of Love.
