A funeral service
for Alma Delores “Dee”
Simmons, age 64, of
Enid, will be held at
10:00 A.M. on Saturday
March 21, 2009, at
Central Assembly of God
Church, with Rev. Kevin
Ward officiating. A
graveside service will
be at 3:00 P.M. in
Resthaven Memorial
Cemetery, at Shawnee,
with arrangements by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home.
Alma was born to
Arvel Dean and Vera
Margerette (Pickett)
Carmichael on October
10, 1944 in Tulare, CA,
and died on March 19,
2009 in Enid.
She attended
Cosmetology School in
Colorado Springs, Co,
and Nursing School in
Tonkawa. On August 22,
1986 in Enid she was
awarded a Certificate of
Commendation for an act
of heroism by saving a
human life. On May 20,
1988 she married Cecil
W. Simmons in Woodland
Park, Colorado, and made
their home in Enid. She
and her husband drove a
truck for a year. She
attended Central
Assembly of God, where
she was active in the
Widows Group. Alma
received a Certificate
of Achievement from
Southeast Regional
Occupational Program for
Travel and Tourism in
January of 1993. She
enjoyed spending time
working in her yard,
motorcycles, and enjoyed
her animals. She loved
her grandkids and great
grandkids and will be
greatly missed.
She is survived by
her 3 daughters Karolyn
Derby, Judy McDowell,
and Shawna Derby all of
Enid; her mother Vera
Carmichael of Seminole;
seven grandchildren
Amanda Conder and Chris
Bobbs, David Conder,
Jesse and Katie
McDowell, Emily
McDowell, Luke Martin,
Isaiah and Melinda
Martin, and Jeremiah and
Brigitt Martin; seven
great grandchildren
Rosalynn, Walter, Mykell,
Neheava, Hallie, Jayden,
and Jacob; two brothers
Victor Carmichael of
Clifton, CO, and Gene
Carmichael of Shawnee,
OK; two sisters Virginia
Brice of Seminole, OK,
and Avis Barton of El
Jebel, CO.
Alma was preceded in
death by her husband
Cecil, her father, and a
sister Judy Ann.
