    A funeral service for George Leonard Snider, age 91, of Enid, will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday August 18, 2009 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Wade Burleson officiating.  Entombment will following in Memorial Park Mausoleum with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 at the funeral home.

    George was born to George C. and Bernice Mae (Bruce) Snider on November 3, 1917 in Hennessey, Oklahoma and died on August 14, 2009 in Enid.

    George grew up in Hennessey, and Wichita.  On October 6, 1940 he married P. Maxine Watkins in Aline, Ok, and they made their home in Augusta, Ks.  He worked for twenty-six years at Beech Aircraft in Wichita.  He was a volunteer fireman, and Boy Scout Leader.  George enjoyed coin clubs, bowling, and games with his friends and family.  After he retired he enjoyed water volleyball and lawn bowling.  He was a twenty-five year veteran of International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers.  After retirement George moved to Phoenix, Az., where they lived for twenty-five years, and then to Enid in 2007.

    He is survived by his wife Maxine of the home; two children Lynda M. Cheeley and husband Ray of Chandler, Az., and Gary L. Snider and wife Carolyn of Divide, Co.; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother Merle Snider and wife Lucille of Winfield, Ks.; two sisters Jeanne Thompson of Neb., and Louise Bybee of Wichita, Ks.

  George was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Pearl Nadine, and two brothers Duane and Hubert.

    Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Enid Fireman’s Rescue Fund.
