A private memorial service for Dr. Kenneth Eldon Sorey, age 81, of Enid, will be held at a later date.  Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.

         He was born to Howard Lansdale and Clarice Maud (Hall) Sorey on June 21, 1928, in Nowata, OK, and died Monday, July 20, 2009, in Enid. 

         Kenneth grew up in Nowata and graduated from Nowata High School.  He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  Kenneth began his career as a professional musician, playing in big bands and the Air Force Band.  On July 29, 1951, he married Fonda Davidson in Newkirk, OK.  He earned his Bachelors Degree from Tulsa University, and then earned his doctorate in psychology from Oklahoma State University in 1967.  Dr. Sorey was employed as a psychology professor at Phillips University for many years.  He also had his own private practice treating patients as well. 

        He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen E. Pritchard of Norman, and Candace Holmes of Ashland City, TN; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

        Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife Fonda in May, 2008.
