A funeral service for Stuart Alan Young, 75, of Enid, will be Monday, November 5, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Steve Meier officiating.  Visitation with the family will be Sunday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.  Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at 12:00 p.m. Monday at the Enid Senior Citizens Center.  Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Stuart was born on February 3, 1932 in Enid to Lloyd L and Mary Belle (Slover) Young and died from an unexpected heart attack on November 2, 2007 in Enid. 

He grew up in Enid and graduated from Enid High School.  Stuart served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War from 1951 until 1953.  On December 3, 1955, he married Joy Mae Whitaker in Enid, where they made their home.  Stuart worked for 11 years as a switchman and an officer for 17 years for Chicago Rock Island Pacific Railroad before his retirement.   After his retirement, they returned to Enid in 1986. He was a member of the V.F.W. and volunteered at the Railroad Museum of Oklahoma for 5 years.  Stuart was the current president of the Enid Senior Citizens Center.  He enjoyed gardening and playing bridge. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-son, Gary Krause. 

He is survived by his wife, Joy; three children, April and her husband, Dan Probst of Nokomis, Illinois, Scott Young of Duvall, Washington, and Melodie and her husband, Marshall Wong of Heath, Texas; six grandchildren, Danielle Alagna of Illinois, Andrea Probst of Virginia, Brittany Hagemeier of Illinois, Mallory Wong of Texas, Amy Jo Young of Edmond, Oklahoma, Zachary Young of Washington; two great grandchildren, Savannah Alagna and Avery Alagna, both of Illinois; a half brother, Jerry Lee Marsh of Kansas; a sister, Ann Claudette Young of Enid; other relatives and many friends.

            Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Enid Senior Citizens Center.
