            A memorial service for Theodore Sheridan Danks, age 88, will be held at 6:00 P.M. Monday, April 23, 2007, at the V.F.W.  Cremation arrangements were by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.  There will be no visitation, viewing, or register book at the funeral home. 

            He was born to Sheridan Franklin and Flotie Agnes (Pratt) Danks on April 23, 1918 in Newburg, West Virginia, and died Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Integris Bass Hospital in Enid.

            He served in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.  He served from June 3, 1941 through December 13, 1945, earning the American Defense Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with two bronze stars, Philippine Liberation with two bronze stars, and Good Conduct Medal Bronze Star.  On December 14, 1945, he married Elsie Bob Turner in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.  He worked for Northrop for 22 years as an airplane mechanic.  He was a member of V.F.W., American Legion, Moose Lodge, N.R.A., and Men’s Extension Garden Club of Enid.  He was an avid gardener and enjoyed volunteer work, delivering meals for Wheatheart Nutrition.

            He is survived by his wife Elsie of the home; three sons, Randy Danks, Roger Danks, and Ted F. Danks, all of Enid; one daughter Susan Bateman of Ponca City; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers James Danks of Colorado Springs, CO, and Dare Danks of Newburg, WV; and four sisters, Algana of Hammonton, NJ, Alberta of Greensboro, NC, Dicie of Hammonton, NJ, and Darlene of Folsom, NJ.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, Larry; and three brothers, Charles, Lance and Glen.

            Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Miracle Network or Moose Heart/Moose Haven.
