Burial for Nellie M.
Thompson, age 100, will
be at 12:00 noon Friday,
December 4, 2009, at St.
Francis Xavier Catholic
Church, with Rev. Kevin
Ratterman officiating.
Recitation of the Rosary
will be 7:00 PM Thursday
evening at
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home Chapel, with Deacon
Tony Crispo
officiating. Burial
will be in Calvary
Cemetery, with
arrangements by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home.
She was born to
Patrick and Mary (Hefel)
McGuar on March 11,
1909, in Carmen, and
died Tuesday, December
1, 2009, at her home in
Enid.
Nellie grew up
west of Enid and
graduated from Lahoma
High School. In 1927
she married J.W.
Thompson, and they made
their home in Enid.
They had one daughter,
Dorothy May. Nellie
worked as a
hairdresser. J.W. died
in 1971, and she later
married Irvin Driskell
in 1976. He died in
1983. Nellie worked as
a rental manager and
managed Sherwood
Apartments for over
thirty years. She was a
member of St. Francis
Xavier Catholic Church,
where she was active
with the Catholic
Daughters and Altar
Society. She also
volunteered at Our Daily
Bread. She enjoyed
gardening and was a
master bridge player.
She is survived by
four grandchildren, Troy
and Laura Williams
Parnomchol, Jim O誰eill,
Ron and Mary Anderson,
and Sam and Patty
Snyder, all of Enid;
eleven
great-grandchildren,
Greg Williams and Lacey,
Jeff and Bethanie
Williams, Joey Williams,
Laurie Williams, Josh
and Kim O誰eill, Ryan
O誰eill and Deanna, Eli
and Mindy Slater, Zach
and Shanda Slater, Seth
and Amber Slater, Sara
Byrum and Dustin, and Steven
Snyder, all of Enid;
eleven great,
great-grandchildren;
nieces and nephews.
Nellie was preceded
in death by two
husbands, J.W. Thompson
and Irvin Driskell;
daughter Dorothy
O誰eill; son-in-law Hugh
O誰eill; and nine
siblings.
Memorials may be made
through the funeral home
to Our Daily Bread.
