The funeral service for
Hattie “Elizabeth”
Thornburg, age 75, will
be at 1:00 P.M. Monday,
March 1, 2010 at the
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home Chapel, with Rev.
Wade Burleson
officiating. Burial
will be at 4:00 P.M.
Washunga Cemetery at
Newkirk, under the
direction of
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home.
She was born to Edgar
and Ladoma (Kekahbah)
Bowker on June 5, 1934
in Washunga, Oklahoma,
and went to be with her
Lord Thursday, February
25, 2010 while residing
at Civitan Homes.
Elizabeth grew up in Kaw
City and graduated from
Kaw City High School,
and later graduated from
Draughn’s Business
College. On November
29, 1952, she married
Ray LaRue in Lovington,
New Mexico, and four
daughters were born to
this union. The family
lived in various
locations in Texas, New
Mexico, Idaho and
Oklahoma. The family
moved to Guymon in 1966.
After her divorce, she
moved to Borger, and
married Guy Thornburg
and they lived there for
ten years. Later she
moved to Enid in 1998.
She loved to bowl, play
cards, and fish.
Elizabeth attended
Emmanuel Baptist Church.
She is survived by three
daughters, Pamela Wadley
and husband Courtney of
Enid, Rhonda Batterman
and husband Dan of
Borger, Texas, and Anita
Miller and husband
Dennis of Greeley,
Colorado; seven
grandchildren; and ten
great grandchildren.
She was preceded in
death by infant daughter
Mary Elizabeth LaRue,
three brothers, four
sisters, and one
grandson Chad Miller.
Memorials may be made
through the funeral home
to M.D. Anderson Cancer
Center, or the Kaw
Nation Educational
Department.
