service for Tina A.
Wood, 85 year old Enid
resident, will be
Wednesday, October 10,
2007 at 1:00 p.m. in
Memorial Park Cemetery
with Chaplain Sam
Justice officiating.
Military rites will be
by the Disable American
Veterans. Cremation
arrangements are under
the direction of
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home and Crematory.
Tina
was born on April 10,
1922 in Vandergrift,
Pennsylvania to John and
Sylvia Pulos and died on
October 6, 2007 in Enid.
She
grew up in Pennsylvania
and graduated from high
school in 1941 and
studied art at the Art
School in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. Tina
enlisted in the Ladies
Marine Corps on November
28, 1944, and was
stationed at Camp
Lejeune, North
Carolina. She was
honorably discharged on
January 16, 1946. Tina
was married to Charles
Duane Swank on December
25, 1945. After her
discharge, they made
their home in Enid.
Charles died in 1969.
From 1955 to 1961, Tina
was display manager for
Lerner Shops. She
married Juel Le Roy
Hays, Jr. in 1973, he
preceded her in death.
Tina later married
Donald Wood. She was a
life member of Alpha Tri
Child Study Club and
held every office
therein, including
President for 1957 –
1958. Tina was a
longtime member of the
American Legion, Loyal
Order of the Moose
Auxiliary, Chapter 1587
of Enid, Veterans of
Foreign Wars Auxiliary,
Post 2270. In the V.F.W.
Auxiliary, she held many
offices, including,
president, 1974-1975,
1980 – 1981, District 11
president, 1977 – 1978,
and was voted District
President for 1978,
Deputy Chief for
district 11, 1976 –
1977, State Historian,
1978, State Page, 1977.
Tina received Life
membership from Post
2270 Veterans of Foreign
War Auxiliary. She was
a chartered member of
the American Business
Women’s Association.
Tina worked for several
years at the Enid State
School as a resident
life staff aide. She
was a member of Davis
Park Christian church.
She enjoyed cooking and
free-lance drawing.
Tina was very active in
the Marine Corps League
Toys for Tots.
She
was preceded in death by
her husband, Donald in
2004; her son, Ernest
Swank.
She
is survived by her son
and his wife, John and
Karen Swank of Enid;
two stepchildren and
their spouses, John and
Debra Wood of Hennessey,
and JoAnn and Gearld
Cottom of Ames;
four
granddaughters, Jennie
Swank and Megan Swank,
both of Enid, Amanda
Reeves of Oklahoma City,
and Jennifer Cox of
Bethany.
Memorials may be made
through the funeral home
to Marine Corps League
Toys for Tots.
