The funeral for Thomas
Leroy Berlie, age 70,
will be at 11:00 A.M.
Monday, Sept. 8, 2008 at
Central Christian
Church, with Rev. John
McLemore and Rev. Don
Johnson officiating.
Arrangements are by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home.
He was born to Fred
Henry and Sylvia Pearl
(Macklin) Berlie on July
6, 1938, in Riverton,
Nebraska, and died
Friday, Sept. 5, 2008 in
Enid.
Tom grew up in
Blue Hill, NE and
graduated from Blue Hill
High School. He served
in the U.S. Air Force,
where he was an aircraft
mechanic. Tom moved to
Enid in 1959, where he
attended Vocational
School and studied
Cosmetology. Tom worked
for 50 years as a
hairdresser at Berlies
Hairstyling until 1999,
and later at Tai’s
Beauty Nook. He was a
member of Central
Christian Church, where
he attended the Sooner
Sunday School Class,
served as a Deacon, was
a member of the
“Caregivers” who visited
shut-ins and hospitals,
and served on many
committees. Tom
was a member of Disabled
American Veterans.
He is survived by
his best friend and
companion, Karen Foster
of Enid; two brothers,
Melvin Berlie and wife
Geraldine of Boelus, NE
and Rev. Bob Berlie and
wife Lily of Oxford, NE;
three sisters, Pauline
Verburgt of Kimberling
City, MO, Ethel Wofford
and husband Joe of
Bartlesville, and Audrey
Berlie of Lincoln, NE;
and several nieces and
nephews.
Tom was preceded in
death by his parents,
five brothers, and one
sister.
Memorials may be
made through the funeral
home to Central
Christian Church, OMRF –
Lung or Heart Division,
or Relay for Life.
