               The funeral  for Dan Unruh, 89, of Enid, will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, Feb. 13, 2009, at the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Shorty Unruh officiating.  Burial will be in New Hopedale Cemetery in Meno with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

            He was born to Cornelius and Katie (Koehn) Unruh on July 17, 1920, near Helena, OK, and died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at Golden Oaks Retirement Village in Enid.

             Dan grew up in Enid and graduated from Enid High School.  He joined the U.S. Air Force and served mostly in England and France.  On July 24, 1944, he married Pearl Howell in Blackpool, England.  Dan retired from the Air Force after 24 years, and then worked for the US Postal Service.  They moved back to Enid in 1979.  Dan enjoyed helping others with yard care.

             He is survived by three brothers, Walter Unruh and wife Madelene of Athens, TX, Paul Unruh and wife Merle of Enid, and Leo Unruh and wife Gertie of Blanchard;  two sisters, Susie Neufeld of Golden Oaks, Enid, and Tillie Ekeland of North Newton, KS; and nieces and nephews.

             Dan is preceded in death by his wife Pearl on Dec. 23, 2009; infant daughter Margaret Unruh; five sisters, Dena Koehn, Mary Koehn, Lena Koehn, Mabel Koffman, and Lizzie Becker; and two brothers Frank and LeRoy Unruh.
