             The funeral for Pearl Unruh, age 84, will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 26, 2009, at the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Shorty Unruh officiating.  Burial will be in New Hopedale Cemetery in Meno, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

             She was born to Edgar David and Margaret (O’Hara) Howell on May 30, 1925, in Blackpool, England, and died Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at Golden Oaks Nursing Home in Enid. 

            Pearl grew up in Blackpool, England.  On July 24, 1944, she married Dan Unruh in Black pool.  She came to the United States in 1946 on a war bride ship along with 4000 other brides.  The couple lived in various locations because of Dan’s military career.  They retired to Enid in 1979. 

             She is survived by her husband Dan of the home; niece Jackie Purnell of Blackpool, England; brothers-in-law, Walter and Madelene Unruh of Athens, TX, Paul and Merle Unruh of Enid, Leo and Gertie Unruh of Blanchard; and sisters-in-law, Susie Neufeld of Enid, and Tillie Ekeland of Newton, KS.

             Pearl was preceded in death by one brother Edgar David Howell, one sister Doreen Alexander, and daughter Margaret Unruh.

             Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church.
