         The Mass of Christian Burial for Marie Rebecca Vaughn, age 85, of Garber, will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, Oct.  29, 2009, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with Rev. Kevin Ratterman officiating.  Recitation of the Rosary will be 7:00 P.M  Wednesday evening at.the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

      She was born to Harry and Mary (O’Neill) Kingan on Aug. 2, 1924, in Rockford, IL, and died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009 at Greenbrier Nursing Home in Enid.

       She grew up in Garber and graduated from Garber High School.  On Aug. 23, 1941, she married Leo Sterling Vaughn at her parent’s home near Garber.  They made their home in Garber, where she was a homemaker and mother.  Marie worked as a bookkeeper for Longs John Deere of Garber.  She was a member of  St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America.  Marie lived her Cursillo at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Norman.  She was a volunteer at Our Daily Bread and St. Mary’s Hospital.  She was also a member of THW Home Demonstration Club.

      Marie is survived by son, Jim Vaughn of Garber;  daughter Pat Vaughn Mitchell of Edmond; three grandchildren, Jeff & Jalynn Mitchell of McKinney, TX, Robert Mitchell of Okla. City, and Patrick Mitchell of Chandler; and two great-grandchildren, Sterling James and Miranda Elizabeth.

      She is preceded in death by her husband Leo, and three brothers, John, Francis and Bernard.

     Memorials may be made through the funeral Home to Our Daily Bread.
