A funeral service for Velta Mae Mitchell, age 90, of Enid, will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 11, 2007, at the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Steve Meier officiating.  Burial will be in the Square Cedar Cemetery near Cleo Springs, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

She was born to Daniel Boone and Harriet (Ring) Davidson on September 13, 1916, in Waynoka, and died Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at Golden Oaks Retirement Village in Enid.

She grew up in Waynoka.  In 1955, she moved to the Ringwood/Enid area.  Velta was employed as a nurse’s aide at St. Mary’s Hospital, and retired after more than 25 years.  She then worked at the Enid State School, until her retirement from there.  She attended Baptist churches.

Velta is survived by three daughters, Jeanette Munoz of Houston, TX, Dianna Kuhne of Norman, and Beverly Mangus of Norman; one son, Dan Mitchell of Las Vegas, NV; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great, great grandson; six brothers, Don, Jerry, Wayne, Danny, Boone and Max Davidson; and four sisters, Lorrene Henry, Shirley Pekrul, Carolyn Mayes, and Veldene Holden.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ted and John Davidson; one sister Velma; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
