A memorial service for Verna R. Oathout,  77 of Enid, will be Monday, October 23, 2006, In Emmanuel Baptist Church with Reverend Wade Burleson officiating. Private family Burial will be at a later date in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.  Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory.

            Verna was born on August 12, 1929 in Mt. Vernon, IL. To Arthur and Gertrude (Estes) Richards and died on October 17, 2006 in Enid, Oklahoma. She grew up in Mt. Vernon and attended Mt. Vernon High School. On April 2, 1947, Verna Married Ralph Oathout in Mt. Vernon and they made their home in Zion, Illinois. She was a clerk for many years at Liquid Controls in Waukegan, Illinois. Ralph and Verna moved to Enid in 1987. Verna was a secretary and treasurer for many years for Gideons International. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.

            Verna was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and three brothers.

            She is survived by her loving husband, Ralph of the home; on son and his wife, Dr. Daniel & Jacqueline Oathout of Enid; and one daughter, Linda Diane Gann of Lincoln, Nebraska; on sister, Gladys King, of Henderson, Kentucky; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

            Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Gideons International.
