            A funeral service for Walter William Decker, age 95, of Meno, will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be in New Hopedale Mennonite Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

            He was born to Frank H. and Ida Mae (Koehn) Decker on March 30, 1912 in Taloga, and died Saturday, June 23, 2007, at Golden Oaks Retirement Village in Enid.

            Walter grew up in Taloga and attended school there.  He then served in the United States Army.  He was a Private First Class in the  First Battalion, 156th Infantry during World War II.  He was awarded the Purple Heart for his service.  On August 23, 1942, he married Marie Linda Koehn in the Baptist Church in Las Vegas, Nevada.  They made their home on a farm near Meno, where they farmed for thirty years.  He was a member of The Glorious Church near Cleo Springs.

            He is survived by his children, Roger Decker and wife Pam of Meno, Merlin Decker and wife Linda of Lahoma, Sherilyn Mason and husband Chip of Ringwood, Jana Overstreet and husband Neil of Enid, and Carla Decker of Billings; nine grandchildren, Mark Decker, Danny Decker and wife Tricia, Patricia Jung and husband Brandon, Jessica Decker, Randy Mason, Jacqueline Hicks and husband James, Tara Gustin and husband Tom, Andrea Overstreet, and Nathan Overstreet; five great-grandchildren, Hannah Mason, Ashlynn and Chelbi Decker, Lindsey and Loren Decker; and two sisters, Lana Kimes of Boulder, CO, and Erma Anderson of Becker, MN.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ida Decker, his wife Marie, and three sisters, Hilda, Marjorie and Julia.

            Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love, Glorious Church, or New Hopedale Mennonite Church.
